In writing this text, the idea is not to shock but to start from a sad observation
Summer 2010 … The carnage continues on the roads of France. Many bikers losing their lives.
Road edges begin to bloom on one side, and on the other to thin. It must indeed continue to remove these trees that do nothing to cut the road for motorcyclists…
While the total number of road deaths is declining, that of 2 wheels takes the opposite path. The rumor speaks of increased moped riders on the road, as well as 125, whose conduct is still, at that time available with one license B.
Yet the figures speak for themselves: the 2 wheels category most fatally affected is that of large motor. Oddly the finding is identical side of other vehicles: high coefficient accident-cars are the the most powerful cars, and also recognized as the safest in security technology materials…
What a paradox: more cars are safer, more they kill … Side biker, it’s even more effarent. French motorcycle license is more demanding: at the end of its license, the new formed motorcyclist is already able to achieve a time … and yet it kills .
Thus, the depths of the provinces, a voice began to be heard. And if the solution was in reducing the speed? Notwithstanding this premise, the author of the voice is set to study the statistics of accidents.
In addition to the type of vehicle, he realized that for almost 80% of fatal accidents, that took place on straight stretches of road, with a very good coating during hot sunny days. The most serious is that the routes concerned are not highways, but national and departmental that mark our daily roads.
Straight lines, prone to excess speed are therefore being gorge cuts. For those who make excess, but also for those who crossing them…
the idea was to avoid as much these major roads to sneak up on the narrowest portions and whose tape tarmac stretched across fields and forests in a long endless snake …
These routes ask for against greater control of the machine than that required in a straight line. However, including that it is not possible to aviter straight lines indefinitely, he needed a ploy to evolve Security on the straights.
And was born in his mind the idea of anti straight line driver. Since drivers are carried away by their impressions (safety, lost time, stress, pleasure …) he realized that he had to develop a force character to override, and dominate his impulses, in order to successfully control its pace. And it worked.
It remained to master the technical problems more winding roads. This was done with more ease, as the acquired control of its drive allowed him to subjugate his apprehension and so forward.
The concept was born. Then came the time of the confrontation with others. Realizing that his speech was ear with a few followers, and that number was growing, why not create a group in the great family of bikers. “United we are strong. United we will win” said the Allied propaganda in 1944 … Here we must defeat those who claim that it is the others who are dangerous when they even fail to respect a single speed limit … and there are many.
The small province of voices had so many other voices need to help him to be heard.
To not be a Straight Line’s Driver, you’ll need to be able to control your impulses, and to be stronger than the bad feeling you have when you are riding slowly, in order to respect the basic rules of how to drive with several different users on traffic lanes: the speed limits. Renouncing to your own will (to ride fast in this case) because your impression of danger makes you feel that there is no danger is a really hard task, and will ask you to show a great self-control. This is why, managing to respect the speed limits, although you have no driving difficulties, shows the best drivers qualities that we can see on traffic lanes.). Because otherwise, except for these psychological qualities (thus very important), what technical qualities of driving do we need during a straight line? Technical driving qualities are only recommanded when you do a turn tight, or when you have to brake (and sometimes, both in the same time). So the-one-who-thinks-that-he-is-not-a-Straight-Lines-Driver needs to upgrade these skills, and on his psychological qualities (self-control). Then, we will have more skills (and pleasure) when we will cross some tight turns (because wide corners are less technical): you’ll have to lean although at low speed, you’ll have to be able to brake before AND during the turn. These driving skills are hard.
First of all, this is a technical challenge (you’ll have to manage every single move of your body, to master the clutch, the throttle, the brakes…), and again, a psychological challenge too. Not only in order to respect the speed limits, but in order to be able to keep the control of your emotions and feeling (sensation of falling, to let the bike do a big part of the job). Only after that, you will be able to enjoy these new sensations, like in a roller coaster. Again, the-one-who-thinks-that-he-is-not-a-Straight-Lines-Driver, has to keep his self-control: to respect other traffic lanes users, and to be able to have great sensations at low speed.
And this last sentence to sum up : « When, to contain your emotions, able you will be , a grand-master, you will… »
